Slow-Race

Hi guys - I'm sorry there haven't been too many updates - not much exciting has happened recently. I got a fence! But photos of that are very dull! I also got a permit so I can pass my new service inspection! Also a very dull detail!

So here are some details that are not dull:

I have never had a dilemma quite like this: this is the Drake pendant from Rejuvenation. For those of you who are blind and are having my scintillating blog read to you verbally: that is a bat, mid-flight, holding a lantern in his lil mouth while a snake climbs the rod above.

I legitimately cannot find anything wrong with this light except that it is $2105 and that's the entire budget I have for appliances. Where do I put this amazing light that defines my interior life so perfectly? They say things won't make you happy... but I'm pretty sure this thing will, though. Like 90% sure that it's the thing missing from my life. Letting go of my resentments? No. Getting over old loves? Overrated. Inner peace is this light staring me in the face as I wake every morning. It's better than a fulfilling relationship because it only talks to me in my mind. And better than having a family because, again, all the talking is mental.

Subject change.

I have a glorious pair of french doors to distract me now. And yes! That pink stuff is insulation! Did you know that when this house was built in 1960 they felt that bricks were insulation enough and it was not necessary to insulate your home?

That was so boring my cat gave me a resentful look and went to sleep somewhere else. I have been shopping for dull things like doors.

Here they are! As not-dull as I can afford. Still rather dull. Haven't found a front door but I hate shopping for it because I can't have a masterpiece.

Windows go in next week, and we went to Ikea and found some cool cabinets.

They are called Ekestad and I really love them, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get them.

I'm also obsessed with these Superfront Loop Handles

Super sexy, it looks like an outfit accessory. Will they get covered in weird gunk while cooking? Yes. Do I cook? Fuck no, so it's not my problem.
These are SHELF BRACKETS. I love them, they are brass, they are killing me. LOVE them.

Here's a view of them with a shelf:

Honestly it's perfect.

This shit is coming together in my mind's eye. Too bad it's not coming together in real time to show you cool stuff; right now it feels like a slow race to nowhere.

Bathroom & Bonus Post

Well this is the most gorgeous egregious part of the entire home - you've seen it post-demolition, here it is in all its insane glory:

This is the bathroom. Swirly pink tile on the walls, black tile liner, a *different* pink floor tile, stained plywood cabinetry and green walls. What's not to love? Also 3 towel bars. For hanging up every fucking towel.

There's a closet eating into my bathroom space (the wall the door is touching in the second photo), so I'm going to tear it out and expand the bathroom square footage.

For the floor I'm thinking simple white matte hexagon - and v groove on the walls

I absolutely love this color - I'm thinking it's close to Sherwin Williams Comfort Grey 6205

Then a white tub with white feet like this one - but I think I'll stick with brushed brass fixtures because it makes matching it way easier.

They might have had something with the stained vanity, though. Just not... orange stain.

How cute is that? Some kind of linen cabinet to match at the end of the tub and I have all the storage I need plus extra space. I found this one on Etsy but I'm afraid it's too cool and maybe not big enough (the space looks tiny here but it's actually quite large):
And then there's this style inspo for shower curtains:

So dreamy 😍

Also here are the two bedrooms - as terrible as everything else - the pink is the front bedroom and the gray is the master bedroom. Each bedroom has decals like the family room so you don't forget where you are. Nice. The wardrobes? They go to Fillory (nightmare Narnia for those of you who are not watching Magicians on Syfy). Sidenote: start watching Magicians on Syfy.

I'm demoing the wardrobes and turning them into extended open closet spaces - the front bedroom will end up being my craft room and a guest bedroom. The master is a little more extensive but I think I'm going to curtain that, too.

Fans for both rooms

Master closet inspo:

Something similar to this with cubbies for the craft room, add some recessed cans and furniture and I think they'll be pretty cute.
